CHARLES "GARY" HOLLIS
August 8, 1947 – January 7, 2026
Charles "Gary" Hollis passed away January 7 in Las Vegas, NV, at the age of 78. He had been a resident of Pahrump since 1969. He was born in Florence, Alabama in 1947 to Charles and Dorothy Jean Hollis. Gary served in the United States Army, and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Hollis has a long history of local politics in Nye County. He served on the Pahrump Town Board from 1996 to 2000 in many capacities, including chairman. He was elected Nye County Commissioner of District #3 in 2004, and was re-elected for multiple terms. Gary stepped up for various town, county, state and federal advisory boards.
Gary Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Hollis, and his brother Larry Hollis. He is survived by his two sisters: Brenda Reynolds and Linda (Glen) Beasley; his three sons and daughter-in-law: Charles Hollis II, David (Rachel) Hollis, and James Hollis, all of Nevada. He leaves behind five grandchildren.
Services are planned for Friday, January 23 at Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 Vicki Ann Rd, Pahrump, NV 89048, with viewing at 10 a.m., and his service at 11 a.m. Interment follows the service at Chief Tecopa Cemetery, located at 751 East St., Pahrump, NV 89048.
