Pahrump, NV - Eddie Jo Yakel, July 31, 1943 - March 30, 2026, passed away to be with her Lord. Eddie lived a life rooted in love for Church, family, and service. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Yakel; her children, John and Robert Yakel, and Cathryn Corso and her cherished grandchildren, Nikki Yakel-Glikbarg, Katie Leonard, J.P. Yakel, and Tanner Corso. She also leaves behind her step-grandsons, Louie and Bobby Roybal, her beloved great-grandchildren, Presley Kate Jame Yakel and Calum Michael Leonard, step-great-grandchildren Jacob and Bobby Roybal, Mackenzie and Noah Roybal, and her nephew, Michael Comer.

In 1956, Eddie Jo moved from Tennessee to California with her family, where her story continued to unfold. That same year she met her husband at a church snow camp. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1961 and, with determination and a heart for caring for others, completed her Licensed Vocational Nursing degree at Glendale College in 1962. Nursing was not just her profession—it was her calling. Over a remarkable career spanning more than 40 years, she served faithfully at Glendale Adventist Hospital and later in Family Medicine Residence, touching countless lives with her compassion, dedication, and steady presence. She gave of her time helping in her church youth programs and as her family grew, attended many youth sporting events and school performances for both her children and grandchildren.

In 2003, Eddie Jo and Gary began a new chapter together in retirement—one filled with adventure, laughter, and time well spent with those they loved most. They traveled extensively across the United States, making memories and strengthening the bonds of family and friendship. Some of Eddie Jo's most treasured moments were the trips she took helping her grandchildren settle into new chapters of their lives, moving them into college and universities that they would attend These journeys were more than just trips—they were acts of love, quiet support, and pride in the lives her family was building.

In 2010, Eddie Jo and Gary purchased a home in Pahrump, Nevada, which became their home base for many years. In 2023, they made it their permanent home, continuing to build a life filled with warmth, connection, and shared memories.

Eddie Jo will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her sense of adventure, and above all, her deep love for her family. She had a gift for showing love whether in her work as a nurse or in the everyday moments that mattered most. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.

Eddie Jo's Memorial Service will be held on May 21, 2026 at 1PM.
