JOSE DAVID HERNANDEZ, JR.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jose David Hernandez, Jr., of Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 26, 2025 at the age of 72. Born and raised in the South Bronx, New York, Jose lived a life of unwavering dedication, service, and passion.

At the age of 17, Jose enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for four years. He later reenlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served for an additional seven years. His commitment to his country and to the values of service, integrity, and honor remained an integral part of his character throughout his life.

After his military service, Jose transitioned to a career as a Maintenance Engineer in Silicon Valley, working for over 20 years and contributing to the technological advancements that helped shape the industry.

In addition to his professional achievements, Jose was a devoted martial artist for over 50 years. He was a Sensei, the proud owner of his own dojo, and a fierce competitor. His work as a mentor changed the lives of many, instilling discipline, strength, and resilience in his students. His legacy in the martial arts community will forever be remembered.

Jose is survived by his beloved wife, Holly Elizabeth, his children, Jose David, Mary Elizabeth, Angela, Anthony, and Natalie; son-in-law, Terry, and daughters-in-law Kathryn and Jessica. He was a loving grandfather to Ella Elizabeth, Trey, Eli David, Gabriella, Delilah, Owen, Cassandra, Marco, Kiara and Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings Curt, Dwayne, and Gigi, and his mother, Gloria.

A burial service will be held at the Sacramento National Veterans Cemetery in Dixon, CA, on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM.

Jose David Hernandez Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of service, his love for his family, and his dedication to the martial arts community will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
