Thatcher, AZ - Mary Ann Ruggles Sansom

Mary Ann Ruggles Sansom passed away on June 11, 2026, in Thatcher, Arizona, one day after celebrating her 87th birthday.

Mary Ann was born on June 10, 1939, in San Diego, California, the daughter of Opal and Curtis Ruggles. She and her husband, Gordon "Sam" Sansom, lived in Southern California until the 1980's when they moved to Pahrump, Nevada, where they made their home for many years. In 2024, declining health led her to relocate to Arizona.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Sansom, and her stepson, Robert Sansom. She is survived by her brother, Ray (Melvina) Ruggles, and her sister, Norma Boaz, both of Escondido, California; her stepchildren, Richard Sansom, Elizabeth Sansom, and Mark (Ramona) Sansom; and her grandchildren, Daniel Sansom, Bodhi and Christina Sansom, Thor, Anna, and Mariah Sheneman, and Nichole, Alicia, and Zach Sansom. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mary Ann enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, and especially taking cruises. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and those who knew her will remember how she could brighten any moment with a well-timed joke and a warm smile. Mary Ann always had her Bible nearby and found immense comfort in reading scripture and in her faith in the Lord.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
