William Lester Shields (Skip) Obituary
Pahrump, NV - William "Skip" Shields, 78, passed peacefully at home on June 7, 2026. Born October 16, 1947, inRiverside, California, Skip served 22 years in the United States Air Force — a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Cold War — with tours in Okinawa, South Korea, and across the U.S. He later became a teacher, retiring as an associate professor at Salt Lake Community College.
Kind, jovial, and always smiling, Skip never met a stranger. A throwback in cowboy boots and western wear, he loved old westerns, bowling, carpentry, leatherwork, card games, animals, and a good Hallmark movie. Above all he loved his wife; after their first date he declared, "I'm going to marry that girl." They shared 55 years together and were sealed for eternity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald W. and Thelma M. Shields. He is survived by his wife, Victoria; his son, Steven (Lindsay); his daughter, Sondra; six grandchildren, Caleb, Alexa, Caitlin, Jonah, Duncan, and Emilia; and his brother, Robert.
